Privately educated myself in the UK, I obtained a PGCE & Qualified Teacher Status in 2004. Since then I have enjoyed over 15 years in teaching working with a variety of age groups. My tutoring specialism is English and I have experience in teaching from KS1 (foundation support in phonics, sentence structure and introductory grammar & punctuation skills) through to KS2 (building grammar, punctuation & creative writing skills leading to exam preparation for SATs & 11 plus). These sessions really help boost children’s general performance in school but are also incredibly useful in filling gaps in learning for those who are homeschooled. In addition to primary work, I have also taught foreign students & adults helping to build their conversational & written skills. No matter the age of the learner, it is deeply important to me that a love of learning is developed first of all. A lack of confidence can be a huge initial stumbling block and with patience & encouragement I aim to build student’s abilities in a relaxed and fun environment. I have the capability to adapt my teaching style to my students needs and can be flexible in terms of class hours.
