I am a dedicated professor with many years of teaching experience in the department of International Studies in Stella Maris College, Chennai, India. I was teaching a post graduate department. I have handled various papers in my teaching career in a women college (equivalent to University in foreign countries) like International History (1648-1945), India’s Foreign Policy, International Organisation, International Terrorism, South Asia, Human Rights and Global Environment Policy. I also handled papers like World Affairs to orient students towards global issues and concerns.
My interest in Foreign Policy helped me to research on Foreign Secretaries of India: A study in Diplomacy for my Ph.D. My study focused on the role and contribution of Foreign Secretaries in the formulation implementation and evaluation of Foreign Policy making an area which was not researched, and my study was one of its kind. My research was based on primary data (interviewing former foreign secretaries of India) and secondary data.
Apart from teaching I have also provide students with many opportunities to develop their interest and skills, like organising group discussions, helping them make a short documentary or videos, presentation, Posters, seminar etc on global issues, which helps them to apply their theoretical knowledge into practical skills. I also guide students in their dissertations work on topics related to the papers I handle which are part of their course completion.
In my capacity as a teacher, I have also extended my duty and responsibility to mentor my students by making myself available for them during their difficult times and support them in organising seminars, providing them hands on experience to build leadership qualities in them and help them make rationale choices and decisions in life.
My 16 long years in the field of teaching has helped me to impart knowledge and to acquire more knowledge in my field and personal life through my various experience as a teacher to be a rationale person. My role as teacher has helped me to develop and mould my students into being a good human being and a responsible citizen of my country. My students have benefitted immensely and placed themselves in the field of Indian Public Service (Indian Revenue Service), UN, World Bank, working with various consulates, corporate teaching, NGOs, and welfare groups etc.
