As an artist and nature filmmaker, the primary motivation behind all of my work has been the structured dissemination of important information; in other words, teaching. Teaching has been an innate part of every class I've taken, every film I've made and every work experience I have ever had. My mother has been a teacher since before I was born, and so I grew up in an environment where learning and teaching were a part of every day.
I have been tutoring for more than 10 years, but more recently I have been able to put my experience to use in many classrooms and other academic settings. My work at the science museum was particularly impactful on me, since as a science enthusiast, making learning fun and engaging for students was almost a matter of deep personal importance. Making sure that knowledge is shared meaningfully, accurately and openly is something I have been passionate about for my entire life. This might be because where I come from, education is not a guarantee, and thus autonomous access to information, the ability to work, and consequently the ability to build generational wealth are privileges that are not lost on me. We live in a world so deeply interconnected that there is information to be found at every turn - but what I wish to ensure is that each person is given the right to have the tools necessary to digest that information in an independent and informed way. Even though I am trained as a filmmaker, I do not believe that teaching is a change in direction for me at all, in fact I believe that teaching (as well as learning from those that I teach) is a very important stepping stone in allowing me to create films that are meaningful and informative, and that have the ability to affect real change.
My rate varies between 6 and 11 euros per hour on a sliding scale depending on the financial capabilities of the students/their families.
