Présentation
My ambition to become a teacher is to inspire and encourage the students to achieve their fullest potential in their education and future careers.
Education is constantly being challenged by the ubiquitous technologies and is constantly changing the macro and micro levels of society. The challenges in education to respond to the evolving societal demands by supporting the development of competent engaged teachers, students, parents, and citizens.
My initial teacher training work experience in High Schools across Manchester and Cheshire allowed me to experience and develop my own individual style for classroom management in the High School setting. I personally enjoyed the everyday interaction with the students, colleagues and the uncertainty factor involved with teaching resistant materials. Health and safety regulations is prioritised in all the areas of design and technology, and this is paramount to achieve a safe learning environment for the students of all abilities.
My focus is to provide a professional pedagogy practice that will create equity and promote life-long learning aspirations to all students that I interact with my knowledge base which, is a powerful positive role model for the students of the 21st century. Knowledge is increasing and the technological advancement of AI is a reminder that education and technology is extrinsically related to the future of our world.
I would like to apply for the teaching role, you have currently available in your Design and Technology subject area key stage 3/4.
My initial teaching experience, which I completed at the Manchester Metropolitan University, Crewe/Alsager site. My undergraduate degree covered Resistant Materials, Food and Textiles technology. The High Schools that I taught at were Blessed Thomas Holford in Altrincham, Ducie High School in Moss Side and Flixton Girls High School in Urmston. My experience with computers and electronics lead to a request from the head of the DT department to produce a laminated instruction booklet for Year 7 to help them to get familiar with how to power up a computer and to familiarise the pupils with the computer desktop.
I also taught at a faith based supplementary Saturday school, teaching English, Science and Maths for students aged 5-16 years old for 3 years.
In addition to my teaching experience, I’ve continued my life-long learning with a MA/MSc in Education. I have now passed my post-graduate qualification and I am just one module away from graduating with a Master’s in Education.
This is just a short synopsis of my studies, and I did attempt a combined degree of Electronics and Computer Studies. I also completed a year in the master’s studies in Urban Education, but unfortunately, this course ended prematurely by the Manchester Metropolitan University due to funding issues.
I look forward to answering any questions you may still have about my short personal statement.
Kind regards,
Janette McLean
