I completed high school in 1999 and began studying journalism. I unfortunately was unable to complete as my mum and younger sister were diagnosed with Lupus. I began working for Vodacom in 2002 and there began my corporate journey. I became sought after in the Telco industry. In 2010 after almost 5 years of dialysis a donor came forth and offered my mum her kidney. Due to the cost of the procedure I'd decided to supplement my income by teaching english to non english students. I completed the course in 2013 but that very same year my mother had passed away. It was only 3 years later when left with tons of medical bills and the grief of having at that point, lost both my mum and my sister, did I pursue teaching. I taught from my home to students from DRC, Nigeria, Turkey, Rwanda and many more.
I prepare well thought out lesson plans specific to each individual. I still worked within the IT/Televoms space full time as a Governance, Risk and Compliance Manager as well as a Business and Process architect.
I'm a mother of 6 grown kids.ranging from 22 down to 13. After being retrenched due to Covid, my kids and I began a non profit organisation and have created a mentorship program which we facilitate at schools. I've been teaching online and out of my living room since 2016. As a counselor and mentor I've realised that each person has their own unique way in which their brain absorbs information, therefore I create lesson plans is accordance to each individual. Personalised learning plans. I encourage conversation and interaction.
I believe that song and dance as well as reading plays a huge part in enunciation, grammar and articulation. I therefore incorporate them into my lesson plans.
I'm a people's person and I am inherently someone who loves being a part of great and positive growth and change. I love the joy my students gain from seeing where they began to where they are now. I would love to change your life too!
