Hola, my name is Claudia Liliana Pineros. I am originally from Bogotá- Colombia. I love travelling and experiencing other cultures. I have lived in England and Costa Rica and visited several countries in Europe, the UK, Africa, Central and South America. I am passionate about teaching languages.
My teaching experience abroad has allowed me to meet and interact with a wide range of students from diverse cultural and social backgrounds, ages, and varying ability levels. I love sharing with my students the knowledge I gained while living abroad. I am a qualified and experienced native Spanish and English language teacher (EFL) with a wide range of skills and knowledge based on 20 years of practical experience teaching in Colombia, England and Costa Rica. I hold a Bachelor of Education in Modern Languages: Spanish & English, and a Higher degree: Specialisation in teaching Foreign Languages. I did a Diploma Course in ELE at Universidad Complutense in Madrid. Besides, I have a Master of Arts in Bilingual Translation from the University of Westminster in London.
I have taught online Spanish lessons since 2017. Working as an online Spanish tutor, I have acquired skills in designing interactive material to support students learning and help them improve their reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and conversational skills. Besides, I assign activities online to facilitate students' consolidation of the learning material. I am always willing to work with various modern language teaching techniques and adapt them to the student's needs.
As part of my experience as a Spanish teacher, I worked at Sixth Form College in England for five years. I taught A-levels, AQA Board, IB years 1& 2 and Business Spanish for Beginners CBLC entry-level. I supervised students' progress and self-study activities through individual assistance, helping them improve their language skills. I designed and marked progress tests and other assignments and guided and supported students in practising for their oral assessments. I also have experience preparing students for their GCSE Exams, encouraging them to gain confidence to be successful in their exams. Additionally, I have taught General Spanish, Business Spanish and Conversational Spanish.
My classes are interactive, and the main goal is to make the students feel comfortable from the first session and to enjoy their learning process and progress. All my lessons are tailored to the student's needs and skills. As a language teacher, I give my students positive reinforcement and appreciate their efforts and progress. It is relevant to set an example and motivate the students to be inquirers, risk-takers, and open-minded and reflect on their learning process. I have experience teaching students from beginners to proficiency levels, so you can be confident that you will start learning and practising your skills from our first class! I will be able to assess your level and skills through different interactive activities.
